Fundraising Afternoon Tea - a triumph for the Trust
Fri 25th Jan
Well, it certainly was not "flaming June", although a persistent deluge in no way dampened spirits. Afternoon tea in the garden was not an option and Bill and Florence Niven generously opened their beautiful home to the hordes who queued in the rain to enjoy a wonderful array of scones and cakes, serenaded by Jim Purvis on fiddle and Alison Scott on flute. An impressive army of volunteers continuously served tea and re-stocked the cake stands, manned stalls bursting with plants, other tempting goods and a tombola. Gillian's niece Phoebe along with her cousin, Bo, did brisk business running a prize competition for an appealing tiger and her cub. Enormous thanks to all concerned. And the result - an astonishing £1,800!
